Many of these programs are regarded as the very best in the nation. UD is one of the top 100 institutions for federal obligations in science and engineering and interdisciplinary initiatives in energy science and policy, the environment, and in human health. Ph.D. application process – Step 1 Each University of Delaware Ph.D. program has its own admission requirements, faculty review committees, and varying decision times. Therefore, please begin by reviewing the program’s website, listed below, to become familiar with their standards. Animal and Food Science Applied Mathematics Bioinformatics and System Biology Civil and Environmental Engineering Climatology Computer Sciences Economics Education Electrical and Computer Engineering Entomology and Wildlife Ecology Financial Services Analytics Geography Geology Marine Studies Materials Science and Engineering Mathematics Mechanical Engineering Ocean Engineering Oceanography Plant and Soil Sciences Urban Affairs and Public Policy Water Science and Policy Ph.D. application process – Step 2 You are welcome to contact individual faculty with questions about their research, but be sure to include the following: “Information about the new Xiamen-UD Ph.D. agreement was forwarded to your Graduate Director.” Ph.D. application process – Step 3 Prepare the following documents/materials: Resume or C.V. Personal Statement Transcripts / Consolidated Statement of Marks Test Scores:(Ph.D. programs require a GRE) English Proficiency(Most programs require a 100 TOEFL ibt, however some will consider an applicant who is otherwise admissible except for English Proficiency through a program called ELI-CAP. Ask your program of interest if they allow this type of admission.) Three (3) Recommendations Supplemental Documents (Some programs require one or two Supplemental documents, also detailed on the program’s website). Non-Required Documents: Some applicants send non-required documents such as published chapters, etc. Please remember that this is an entirely electronic application process. We have designed this special area at the end of our application called “Additional Document Upload” for this purpose. Ph.D. application process – Step 4 Next, go to UD graduate application, and bookmark this page. Locate the Create Account box to the upper right and click on the tab. There you will choose your password. You are now ready to start your graduate application. (You have the ability to exit and re-enter your application until you are ready to submit.) Answer all required questions. Upload your prepared documents when prompted. Pay the application fee and click the final “submit” button. You will immediately receive a confirmation of your submission. (Note: As soon as you click submit, your application is visible to your faculty admission committee).
