读者 Kevin 问：on a tree 和 in a tree 有什么分别？
两者其实没有显著的分别。有一个说法认为 on a tree 是指一些树木自然生长出来的东西，例如 leaves、flowers、fruits on a tree。有一首有名的民歌，开头的两句是 "I wish I was an apple growing on a tree/ And every time my girl walks by, she takes a bite of me"。
至于 in a tree 是指一些不属于树的东西却在树上找到。例如：猫看到树上的鸟儿，也要爬到树上。The cat saw the bird in the tree, and wanted to climb up, too.
以上只是其中一说，因为 on a tree 和 in a tree 的分别，绝对不是硬性规定。如果把 the bird in a tree 说成 the bird on a tree，也不会有人大叫大嚷说你错了。
