读者 Richard在电邮中问 big 和 large 有什么不同。
这两个字的字面意思一样。A big man 和 a large man 都是指身材高大的人。但在一些情况下，这两个字是不能对换的。
Big 有时不是指体积的大小，而是年龄的差别，如 big brother、big sister 等。有时又指事件的严重性：
Marrying her boyfriend before she finishes school is the biggest decision she has ever made.
而 no big deal 也不可写成 no large deal。这些情况下 big 不能用 large 来代替。
Large 也有一些固定的用法，像 a large part of、to a large extent、a large percentage 等，这些固定用语中用 big 不是绝对不可以，但习惯上还是用 large。
