读者 Michael 问：溺毙英文是 drown，但遇溺而不死，最后逃过大难又如何表达？
英文 drown 这个字是淹死之意，遇溺而不毙，英文没有特别一个字，只可以在前面加一个 almost，如：He almost drowned but the lifeguard came just in time.
或者可以用 continuous tense，如：He was drowning when the lifeguard pulled him out of the water.
说一个人在水中挣扎，英文是 flounder。Thrash 和 flail 都可以，但这两个字也可以用在其他的情况，不只限于水中。水深过头时，人就是 submerge in water，也可以说 out of one's depth。后者更可作为比喻，来形容人遇到超出自己能力所能应付的情况。
譬如说：某人刚从大学法律系毕业，第一件处理的案件就千头万绪，不知从可入手，只得向上司请示。
Finding herself out of her depths, she asked for her senior's advice on the new case.
